Vincent Lombard

Applications Programmer

E-mail: lombard@ebi.ac.uk

My name is Vincent Lombard. I joined the EBI in October 1999 as an applications programmer for the Database Applications Group. I take part in the processing of sequence submissions to the EMBL database and modify the WEBIN tool, the WWW sequence submission software for the EMBL database.

Before learning computer science I studied biology in the faculty of sciences of Luminy (Université de la Méditerranée). I have an MSc in cellular biology, specialising in genetics. After my masters I decided to gain another competence in computer sciences so I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in computer science at the same university. Before joining the EBI, I worked for the CNRS (a research laboratry in Marseille) doing my training period.

I worked on the creation and automation of an enzyme data base with Mr Bernard Henrissat and Mr Pedro Coutinho. I programmed under UNIX with Mysql, AWK, PHP3-4 (Web Site: http://afmb.cnrs-mrs.fr/~pedro/CAZY/db.html)
