A variety of strategies for functional determination will be covered, including the use of modifications of model organisms. The attempt to ascribe biological function in silico will be explored, along with developments in using the yeast 2-hybrid system to provide insight into function by probing protein-protein interactions. Genetic variation in the general population is being studied as it correlates to disease onset and progression.
