My name is Diane Harbison, I joined the nucleotide database curator group in April. I did my first degree in Molecular Biology at Glasgow University, concentrating on molecular development. Since I had such a good time in Glasgow, I decided to stay and do my PhD there. I worked in the Genetics Department and studied the process of Spermatogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster. Having seen most of what Glasgow had to offer, I moved to Edinburgh to work as a post-doc at the Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology. My project involved the study of sex-specific gene expression in Drosophila.
Having just bought a house, most of my free time will be spent gardening and decorating! When I have any spare time, I like to travel; I have lived in Africa and travelled to Australia, the USA and most of Europe.
