EBI news
Frontiers in Visualisation
EBI organised and hosted the "Frontiers in Visualisation and Human-Computer Interaction '97" conference in November 1997. This is the summary of the conference.
Opening of Wellcome Trust Genome Campus
October 8 1997 was a great day for the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus (and all the employees!): HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) officially opened the new campus.
New interactive services
EBI has now fast interactive FASTA, BLAST's and S&W services. The typical wait time for jobs to complete is around 1 to 2 minutes.
Genome Monitoring Project
The Sanger Centre and EBI jointly provide a service that allows tracking of the progress made in the major genome sequencing projects.
Nucleotide Acids Research
A number of databases that are actively maintained at EBI or in which EBI staff are involved are described in the database issue of Nucleic Acids Research.
EBI becomes 3D structure deposition site
Three-dimensional structures of proteins can now be deposited at the EBI. These structures will be automatically incorporated in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) of Brookhaven National Laboratory. Read the full scoop here.
New staff at the EBI
A number of people have joined the ever-growing EBI over the past months. Some even supplied BioInformer with an introduction to themselves. Read all about their job responsibilities and their (professional) interests.
