Hello, I am Agnes Leyen and I am the new Data Submission Processor at the EBI in room A3-44. My first working day, about two weeks ago, I was given the password "Dubble Dutch", so guess my nationality. Do not worry, I changed it (not my nationality but my password). I am 33 years old, live in Ipswich, the capital of Suffolk, and commute every day by car which is about an hour drive. This is my second year in England. I used to teach Biology at a secondary school in the Netherlands. I found I could get a huge European grant to study Ecology and Conservation in London. So off I went. Instead of going back to the Netherlands my partner and I decided to stay here.
After my study in 1996, I worked six months for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers in Colchester, did some little jobs in and around Ipswich and here I am now! I am very happy with my job here, it is really a good place to be. I have always enjoyed a lot of sport and it has become even more important now since I am almost tied to my chair. So you might see me running around at lunchtime. I am also keen on swimming, sailing, playing volleyball and walking. I like to play gealic music on my cello and lots of other things. Anyway, you're welcome to pop in and check whether I look like my picture or the picture resembles me!
P.S. Is there anybody who commutes between Hinxton and somewhere around Ipswich? Maybe we can arrange something just in case my VW Polo has a bad day.
